why Compassion International?

smallsacrifice is partnering with Compassion International to provide clean water, save lives, and change communities.  Like Feed My Starving Children and CURE, Compassion is very good at what they do.

A few things are important when we consider with whom we will partner.

– We want to know where the money is going.  Transparency is key, as no one wants to see only $.60 of their dollar going to the cause.
– Children need care, not a band-aid.  There is a difference.
– It’s critical that the children care that is top notch.
– We believe in Ripple Theory, so it is important that the communities are made stronger by the change that occurs for the children.
– The organization that we partner with has to have a history of doing the right things for the right reasons, and seeing the right fruit.
– Finally, the organization should have a mission that aligns with what we believe.

So, why did we choose Compassion?
– A very high return rate: over $.84 of every $1 goes to providing care for children whose families cannot afford it.
– Very high transparency and fiscal responsibility.  Charity Navigator gave Compassion an unparalleled score of 70 out of 70 for accountability and transparency.
– A proven track record of success and changed lives.  Compassion has existed since 1952, is in 26 countries, and supports over 1,172,000 children.  The children that have “graduated” from Compassion are the teachers, doctors, and leaders of their communities.  They don’t mess around.
– A legacy of communities changed.  Compassion doesn’t just do help children, Compassion changes families and communities.

We have no connection with Compassion International other than a shared desire to change the lives and trajectories of children who are living in need.
