why Power Packs Project?

1 out of 6 Americans don’t have enough food to eat.  That’s 48 million Americans that go hungry every day.

Lancaster, PA is known for a lot of things – the Amish, Auntie Anne’s, Turkey Hill… but child poverty isn’t one of the first things to come to mind.  Unfortunately, it is a reality for almost 15% of the children in Lancaster county.

Power Packs Project aims to change that.  It’s about breaking the cycle, teaching people to fish.

Power Packs provides weekend food and nutritional information to families who are food insecure when the school’s lunch program is not available to them.  Families are taught how to stretch their limited food dollars using the food provided by PPP.   The goal of the program is to empower families to regularly provide healthy meals and that children return to school, well-fed and ready to learn.  Power Packs provides long-term solutions to end childhood hunger.  91% of donations go directly to programs, both nutritional and educational.

Lives are changed.  Neighbors are changed.  The community is changed.
